Full of Praise Dog Training Centre
Pet obedience and puppy classes are held on Wednesday Evenings at Brabyn’s Park recreation centre, Marple Bridge. Classes are limited to 7–10 dogs depending on breed and size to ensure dogs receive enough floor time and individual attention.
Classes start at 7.30pm prompt and must finish at 8.30pm. All our courses run over 8 weeks.
As we are Kennel Club listed you and your dog(s) have the option to take the Good Citizen Dog Scheme test at the end of the course. However, all dogs and handlers receive a certificate from Full of Praise, which details what you have covered in your classes. So your hard work doesn’t go unrecognised if you choose not to take the KC test.
For more details see Services Provided
Our next course is due to start on 9th September 2009. Please book early to avoid disappointment.
The next Kennel Club GCDS test is booked for 2nd September 2009 at 7pm. Due to a limit of 10 places per test please book early. (six places already taken)
We are different to other local dog training clubs, in that lots of clubs do all the practical exercises, but leave out all of the theory bits; which as a dog owner are really important to know. For example: foods that are poisonous to dogs, how to groom & bathe your dog correctly, basic K9 first aid and dog law and legislation, which most people don’t think about, but it could get you a hefty fine or worse still, sent to prison if you’re not aware of it.
In our pet obedience training courses we give talks at the end of each class on subjects related to dog ownership. You do not need to take notes as information sheets are provided at no extra cost. Booklets and handouts are also given on various topics that we may not have time to do a talk or presentation on. Talks and handouts will differ from course to course, so if there is something you would like information on please ask, as the chances are we have it.
Throughout the course(s) you will carry out practical sessions, both individually and in a group. The sessions cover all basic training and follow the Kennel Clubs’ Good Citizen Dog Scheme. At the end of the course you will have the opportunity to take the Kennel Club Test, which is carried out by an external examiner. However, all dogs and handlers receive a certificate from Full of Praise, which details what you have covered in your classes.
Each week at the end of each class we hold a ‘questions & answers’ session. This is your opportunity to ask anything you like that may not be covered in your course; this is also a good time to get to know the other handlers.
We recommend when you are looking for a training school you visit all your local clubs. Full of Praise welcomes visitors. However we would ask that you arrange this in advance to ensure the class is not disrupted and that a trainer is available for you to speak to about your requirements.
